Etsy Shopping Spree

I had a bit of cash going spare (thanks to Glasgow City Council!) and decided to blow it on cute hairclips and earrings from some of my fave Etsy shops.

Kitty Hairclip

Kitty Hairclip from Joey’s Dream Garden – I had been cooing over this cute shop for quite a while so just had to have this adorable hairclip, particularly as it was the last one left! Joey is a very friendly seller and fast shipper so I had the clip in my hair within a couple of days. Already planning my next purchase…

Squid Earrings

Squid Earrings from illi – All of illi’s designs are super-kawaii and I had a hard time choosing just one. It was a toss-up between these and the octopi but the squid were marginally cuter! The packaging is excellent if you want to give as a gift.

Star Crystal Earrings

Star Crystal Earrings from Rairen – I have a bit of a obsession with star earrings and these are very cute & sparkly. There are also a lot of kawaii items in the shop with FREE shipping – bargainous!

Bumblebee Hairclip

Bumblebee Hairclip from sundropclips – Who doesn’t love a fuzzy, buzzy bumblebee?! When I saw this cute little fella, I just had to have him to adorn my hair. This shop has a wide variety of handmade felt hairclips to suit all tastes and hairstyles.

Footie Shark

Footie Shark - Awesome at keepie-uppies!

I haven’t been doing a lot of crafting lately as have been revising hard for exams but I have come up with a couple of new designs and Footie Shark is my absolute favourite!

Seeing this adorable design by Crowded Teeth gave me a horrid realisation that I have been sorely neglecting sharks. Burning with shame, I put my brain to work and came up with this fun design of a shark doing keepie-uppies.

This was my first attempt at sewing a felt design onto a bag and I found it fun but fiddly! I also noticed I’d drawn the bounce lines the wrong way on the notebook so changed that for my bag design. Hope you love him as much as me!

Being a massive fan of Marcy’s Jammie Dodger character, I was delighted to receive this sweet little draw-string bag through the post this morning. Apparently it didn’t pass the stringent quality control at Asking For Trouble HQ but it looks perfect to me and goes nicely with my adorable plushy brooch. I was clicking about one day trying to find some kawaii gifts for Marceline’s birthday, and came across these amazing plush envelopes by My Paper Crane but unfortunately they weren’t available to buy at the time.

Cursing my misfortune, I then found this brilliant tutorial by LucyKate Crafts and she made it look so easy I decided to make my own cute plushy envelope!

The grey one is my prototype and the blue one is the final version I sent to Marcy. I added a felt ’stamp’ to the front and lined it with cute bunny fabric I got in Tokyo. I think she likes it!

New Cards

Flower card made with felt hearts.

Here’s a sneak preview of the new cards I am making which will soon be available in my Etsy shop, once my shipment of fancy deckle-edged card blanks arrives. I used felt hearts to make the flower and sewed them onto the card. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would and looks so cute!

It’s A What?!

Sag - cutest optical measurement ever!

And here is the finished item – a sag! I got the idea from a tricky mathematical thing we were struggling with at college, joking about what we would do with a sag if we ever got our hands on one. So I decided to make myself a sag pincushion to keep my pins & needles safe whilst revenging myself on sags!

I did a bit of a doodle of what one would look like (saggy ears, confused expression as sags are very confusing) and came up with this. I am pretty pleased with it but the ears are not quite right and I have some ideas for improvements so will attempt v.2 soon.

Sadly it is too cute to hate so I’m hoping it will help me to learn to love sags!

Errol the jellyfish

I’ve decided that Errol will be my last jellyfish for a while so I can move on to some new projects. Errol and Candice are now in my Etsy shop along with Ezekiel, Emmanuel, Jezebel and Lucifer.
